Lego Films and Stop Action
Make your LEGOs come to life! Bring in your favorite action figures or LEGOs and create a short film with your friends. Whether you want to recreate a scene from Star Wars or design a world of your own, this class brings your dreams to the screen. Student-created films will be available on a password-protected website to share with friends and family.
Chess
Join Chess-Ed as they provide a unique, exciting, and dynamic chess instructional program that lifts each student to a new level of chess expertise—whether a beginner, continuing, or advanced chess player. Each day, students will enjoy an engaging professional chess lesson with supervised time to play with classmates. Students will grow their knowledge of the game—from the basics through opening theory, middle game tactics, and end-game combinations. Studies suggest that playing chess increases IQ performance, improves memory, uses analytical and critical thinking skills, teaches problem solving, responsibility, sportsmanship, social skills, and more. The chess program is open to all students of all playing levels.
These classes also have a weekly rotation of sports, music, library, art, and outdoor water play to round out their day.
