Foundations for Learning to Read

For children entering grade 1

Is your child just beginning to put sounds together to form words? Taught by reading specialists and classroom teachers, this class is designed for readers who continue to work on letter-recognition skills, sight-word memorization, or beginning blending skills. Your child will experience the Orton-Gillingham approach to learning how to read, which is structured, sequential, and multisensory. This class provides a foundation to jump into first-grade reading with confidence and will get your child excited about learning how to read. This class also has a weekly rotation of sports, music, library, art, and outdoor water play to round out their day.
