For children entering grade 6
As students get older, they have more to manage: sports, clubs, exams, and increased assignments. This class is designed to teach students the key executive functioning strategies and study skills that are essential for success in school and daily life. Students will learn how to keep their materials organized and what organizational tools they can use, how to manage their time as their commitments grow, and how to properly study for tests and exams. Additional skills that will be covered are how to be adaptable and flexible with their thinking, how to set realistic goals, and how to self-monitor to make sure they are on track to achieve those goals. This will be done through the use of an evidence based executive functioning curriculum designed specifically for pre-teens and teens. We will use this curriculum, as well as interactive activities and games, to develop executive functioning and study skills. The class will cover the same content each session and we recommend only registering for this class one time.
