For children entering grades 6–8

Do you love reading and writing poetry? Do you have a desire to share your ideas with a wider audience? In this class, your young poet will read and discuss a variety of poems and review their knowledge of literary elements and poetic techniques. We will also write our own poems inspired by the works we read and walks we take through the Hyde Park neighborhood. Meanwhile, your child will learn the basics of podcasting and listen to models of poetry podcasts, like Poetry Unbound and Poem Talk. As a final project, you will produce your own podcast in which you recite a poem and share your commentary about it.
