Lab welcomes Nicole Williams as new Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Lab is pleased to announce that Nicole Williams will become Lab’s next Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion effective July 1, 2021.
Working in collaboration with administrators across the Schools, Nicole will establish consistent and comprehensive programming, partnering with faculty, staff, students, parents, and board members in support of Lab’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. She will also ensure that our work is coordinated with University efforts.
“I look forward to welcoming Nicole to Lab's leadership team and learning of the many ways her wealth of experience and expertise help shape Lab’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts going forward,” says interim director David Magill.
Nicole is currently the senior research analyst and co-director of the Equitable Learning & Development Research Group at the University of Chicago Consortium on School Research. In this role she co-developed the Building Equitable Learning Environments Network, creating a framework and essential actions for districts to shift education systems to more equitable practices and policies. She has served in this role for five years but has been with the Consortium of School Research since 2009.
Nicole earned her bachelor's degree (political science) from Mount Saint Mary’s University, and her master of arts (concentration: clinical/community) from the University of Chicago. She is completing her doctorate at the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration. In addition to her work at Lab, she will soon serve on the Beloved Community Institutional Review Board, a non-profit consulting firm focused on implementing regional, sustainable solutions for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
