Lab welcomes Kelly Grimmett, new Nursery–Grade 2 principal to begin April 12

Interim Director David W. Magill recently announced that Kelly Grimmett will become Lab’s next Nursery–Grade 2 principal effective April 12, 2021.

Ms. Grimmett is currently the associate head of the Lower School at Friends Seminary in New York City. She has served in this role for five years but has been at Friends Seminary for nine years, beginning as their associate director of new media and library services.

Prior to joining Friends Seminary, Grimmett spent seven years as the director of libraries and information services in both public and independent schools. She earned her bachelor’s degree (English literature) and master’s degree (library and information science) at Rutgers University. Currently, she is completing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania. 

In addition to her daily responsibilities at Friends Seminary, Grimmett is a trustee and on the Executive Board of the All Souls School, another independent school in New York City.

In his announcement, interim director Magill  remarked that “a new and exciting period of time will soon begin at Earl Shapiro Hall. I am confident that its best days are ahead.”
