2022 Billy Streeter Award

This year, the Billy Streeter Award nominating committee shared that twenty-seven staff members from all areas of the Schools were nominated by their colleagues. Nominees included custodial staff, security personnel, and administrative support staff. All of the nominees were recognized for their hard work, strong connection to students, willingness to help others, and resilience and commitment to Lab during the 2021–2022 year.

This year’s award recipient has worked at Lab since 2018 and is known by students and staff for his positivity. He cares deeply about our community and greets all the students, many of them by name. He can laugh and joke just as well with the third graders as he can with the adult  swimmers who use the pool at night. He is friendly and diligent, and he has an infectious joy for his work.

He is especially supportive of the athletic teams at Lab. When Maroons return from competitions, win or lose, he is unfailingly supportive of the athletes, learning details about the game or meet, and encouraging the students to keep working hard.

Lab is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2022 Billy Streeter Award for Service Excellence is our Community Service Officer at the Gym Buildings on Historic Campus, Brian Arceneaux.

The Billy Streeter Award for Service Excellence is named in honor of a former Laboratory Schools employee, William “Billy” Streeter, who, in his role as custodian, made an incredible difference in the lives of Lab students. The award recognizes a non-teaching staff member for sustained excellence in knowing and supporting students. The award was established in 2018 by Mr. Streeter’s daughter and son-in-law. The Billy Streeter Award allows us to celebrate the contributions of people who make the Lab community a warm and vibrant place to be a part of.
