Ted Haydon, ’29

Ted was a member of the University High track and field team and went on to compete all four years in track and field for the Maroons of the University of Chicago. Ted coached track and field at the University for 35 years from 1950 to 1985, and founded the University of Chicago Track Club in 1952. Ted was an assistant coach for the United States National Track and Field team in the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Games and the 1963 and 1979 Pan American Games. He is a member of the United States Track and Field Hall of Fame as well as the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Hall of Fame.
