Opening Doors and Welcoming Labbies

"Lab promises to educate young people who grow into free and flexible thinking adults. You cannot teach that without an inclusive community," shared Irene Reed, '92, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. Reed and her team have the pleasure of working with prospective and admitted students and families on their journey to finding an educational home at Lab. This process has made Reed deeply appreciate Lab's commitment to supporting students with financial aid and scholarships. "A school cannot claim to have the best and brightest talent if it doesn't offer support to great families who don't necessarily have the means to attend."

Lab offered a record amount of financial support to students for the 2022–2023 school year—close to five million dollars. One third of the students receiving aid receive full support. While proud of Lab's ability to attract and retain wonderful students with generous support, Reed still recognizes areas for growth. Families face costs beyond tuition, such as books, Extended Day, and field trips. Lab is currently able to cover some of these costs but additional funding is needed to meet Lab's goal of ensuring that every student can enjoy any aspect of the Lab experience they choose. Keeping Lab's doors open to all is a community-wide effort because an accessible school today creates leaders for tomorrow.
