The girls tennis team hosted the 1A IHSA Sectional Championship this past weekend; the Maroons scored 25 points and finished second of 11 teams.
Our number one doubles team of twelfth-grader Kriti Sarav and tenth-grader Paola Almeda won the Sectional Championship defeating Alice Mihas and Malia Chen from Latin 6-0 6-4 in the championship match. Sarav/Almeda went 4-0 and advance to State.
Twelfth-grader Corona Chen finished third in the singles competition, winning three of her four matches to qualify for the State Championship series. Senior singles player Jackie Slimmon and our second doubles team of Olivia Gin and Shelby Hackett competed for the Maroons this weekend.
The Maroons head to the IHSA State series Thursday–Saturday at various sites in the northern suburbs.
