The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools

The fencing team competed at the Great Lakes High School Fencing Conference Championships Saturday in Highland Park. The boys epee team placed fifth and the boy's foil team placed in the top eight. Competing for the Maroons were Daniel Tothy, Jacob Lui, Varun Shriram, William Zhang, Luka Vegna-Spofford, Ben O'Donnell, Dash Smith, Francis Ofori-Mante, Maya El Shamsy, Kai Gregorski, and Rachel Xiang. At the individual Great Lakes Championships last weekend William Zhang placed third in saber, Ben O'Donnell place fifth in epee, and senior Maya El Shamsy placed sixth in epee.
