Boys Swim sets four new school records—Horace Shew to State Finals

The boys swim team finished fourth place ( of 12 schools) at the IHSA Sectional Swim Championship at UIC on Saturday, February 17, scoring 150 points.


The boys swim team finished fourth place ( of 12 schools) at the IHSA Sectional Swim Championship at UIC on Saturday, February 17, scoring 150 points. Senior Horace Shew won the 200 Individual Medley (IM) with a spectacular 1st place finish swimming a 1:55.99. Horace's fastest time going into the final was 2:05.99.

Horace Shew set a new school record in the 100 yard backstroke swimming a 51.46, his previous best time was 54.50. Junior Mitch Walker established a new school record in the breaststroke with a 59.91, his previous best time going into the meet was 1:05.27.

Sonny Lee established new school records in diving this season, he scored 128.20 in a six-dive dual regular season meet and 223.50 in the 11 dive requirement at the Sectional Championship on Saturday.

Kudos to coaches Paul Gunty, Kate Chronic, Will Guedes, and to the entire team for representing the best of U-High at this Sectional meet on Saturday.
