Girls soccer advances to Final Four State Series

The girls soccer team advanced to the IHSA Super Sectional game four times over the past 11 years, this was our first victory


The girls soccer team defeated Aurora Central Catholic 1-0 to win the 1A IHSA Super Sectional Championship at Benedictine University on Tuesday, May 22.

Senior Captain Anna Kenig-Ziesler scored the winning goal midway through the second half finding the back of the net from 20 yards out on a beautiful direct free kick to the upper right corner of the goal. Anna "KZ" leads the Maroons in scoring with 13 goals.

The Maroons advance to 12-6-3 on the season.


Sophomore goalkeeper Eve Grobman recorded the shutout along with another stellar performance by the back line defenders: Ileana Minor, FaFa VanHa, Isabella Light, Miranda Mireles, and Liz Gately. The goalkeepers, Eve Grobman and Grace Watson, have recorded nine shutouts this year.

The Maroons advance to the IHSA Final Four State Series this weekend where we compete in the semi-final match with North Shore Country Day on Friday, 7 p.m., at North Central College.
