From the Midway—Hands-on experience with paleontology through the University of Chicago’s Fossil Lab
The Laboratory Schools are situated within the confines of the beautiful University of Chicago campus, which is located in the historic, residential neighborhood of Hyde Park, just 20 minutes south of downtown Chicago.
Earl Shapiro Hall is home to Lab's Early Childhood division.
It opened its doors to a soaring, light-filled 130,000-square-foot structure located at 5800 S. Stony Island Avenue in 2013. This state-of-the-art facility was designed with the ethos of early childhood education in mind and is an exercise in using open floor plans to open minds.

We have set aside two dates for school visits for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Winter visit | Application Deadline: last Friday in January.
Spring visit | Application Deadline: last Friday in March.
Please note that we have limited capacity for each visit date.
Requests submitted after the deadline will be considered only if space is available.
