Getting to UChicago

Visiting schools are responsible for making and paying for their own travel arrangements.
We recommend booking flights that arrive in time to allow for travel from the airport to the hotel and any scheduled evening events.

Here are a few travel tips:

  • There are two airports in the Chicago area: O'Hare (ORD) and Midway (MDW). While O'Hare tends to have more options for flights, Midway is the closest airport to Lab’s campus.
  • Public transportation is available between the airports and campus, but we recommend renting a car for your stay in Hyde Park. There will be parking both at the hotel and on campus.
  • The Whova app contains a module for those interested in ride-sharing with other school groups attending the conference. (Instructions + picture of ride-sharing tool)
  • The program ends at noon on Saturday, September 13, and we would recommend booking your travel no earlier than 3 p.m. to accommodate travel and check-out time.

Lodging

The Study hotel is located within a short walk of the Laboratory Schools Campus, the David Rubenstein Forum, and the Quadrangle Club.

Hotel Check-In

  • Standard check-in time is 3 p.m. at The Study at the University of Chicago (1227 E. 60th Street, Chicago, IL 60637).
  • Early check-in cannot be guaranteed, but the hotel will do its best to accommodate arrivals as rooms become available. Luggage storage will be available for those arriving before check-in.

Important accommodations details:

  • After registering, a school’s group leader will receive an authorization code from the Laboratory Schools. Please call The Study at 773-643-1600 with this code to book up to four rooms for your school at Lab’s expense.
  • Bookings should be based on double occupancy to the extent possible for your delegation: the Laboratory Schools will cover the cost of up to four rooms per school at The Study.
  • If a school’s delegation would like to book more than four rooms at its own expense (i.e., to provide additional single-occupancy rooms for its delegation), please email FXP@ucls.uchicago.edu for guidance. Depending on demand, additional rooms may be located at an alternate location.
