Student Aid

In addition to capital improvements, the Lab+ Campaign will ensure that financial considerations do not get in the way of attracting the best and brightest students to our Schools.

Over the past few years, Lab has greatly increased its efforts to support scholarship and financial aid:

  • In spring 2008, Lab received a $2 million grant from the Malone Family Foundation, making it the first and only school in Illinois to earn that distinction. The Malone Foundation provides scholarship endowments to select independent schools for gifted students who lack the financial resources to best develop their talents.
  •  In the past few years, Lab has increased the number of full scholarships offered from just one to 18.
  • Alumni have stepped forward, creating many endowed class scholarships.
  • In spring 2009, graduating U-High seniors and their families created the third Senior Class Gift, which will eventually support a named scholar.
