Support Lab

Whether you are an alumna or alumnus, a current or past parent, or a friend, your support is sincerely appreciated and ensures the long-term growth and health of the Schools.

At Lab, we are committed to developing independent thinkers who value learning, creativity, and the intellectual process throughout their lives. And as at virtually every independent school in the United States, the cost of educating each child significantly exceeds tuition.

To make up the difference between tuition and the real cost of educating its students, Lab relies on charitable contributions. Without the financial support of alumni, parents, and friends like you, the cost of attending would place a Lab education out of reach for all but the wealthiest families. With your support, the schools are able to provide financial aid to families who need it, helping ensure that a Lab education is accessible to children from all backgrounds and that the Lab community remains a balanced one.

There are many ways for you to support the Laboratory Schools. Every gift to Lab, no matter the size, helps us sustain our commitment to continuing the unique education that Lab’s founder John Dewey envisioned almost a century ago. Your gift supports priorities that are essential to the quality of teaching and learning at Lab, including

  • financial aid
  • recruiting and retaining gifted faculty
  • professional development for our teachers
  • classroom equipment and supplies

Please support the Schools in one or more of the ways described here, and help current and future students experience the power that is a Lab education.

The Mission of the Laboratory Schools Alumni Relations & Development Office is to, in all of its actions, advance the core values and goals of the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools by ensuring robust philanthropic support to the institution.
