Crow Canyon: Cortez, Colorado
June 15 - 21, 2008

Open to students entering grades 5 - 6

The Crow Canyon Archaeological Center will once again host the Laboratory Schools for a week-long educational experience in archaeology.

Crow Canyon is located in Cortez, Colorado, the ancestral home of the Pueblo Indians who inhabited the canyons and mesas of the American Southwest. Participants spend the week learning about the Pueblo Indians’ occupation of the Mesa Verde region. In addition, they will examine lifestyles and technologies from each of the major time periods, participate in a simulated archaeological dig, visit Crow Canyon’s research laboratory and active excavation site, and tour one of the jewels of the southwest, Mesa Verde National Park.

This cultural and learning experience will help students broaden their view of our rich Native American heritage.
