Prompts, Nods, Nudges, and “Ah-Ha!” Moments: Unleashing Your Creative Genius Within and Without
Open to students entering grades 6 - 10
When inspired by nature, humankind, literature, architecture, and art of all kinds, we can sharpen our powers of observation, tune in to our visceral responses, and hone our skills in describing what we see, feel and know. Prepare to entertain and be entertained by the whole writing process, from inception to final expression, whatever form that might take -- short stories, poems, sketches, “seeds” for future writing projects, cartoons, songs, video clips, etcetera. We will take daily walking trips to neighborhood sites (or field trips in the city if time permits) to observe, explore, and gather responses to the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of the world around us. The goals of this class will be to clarify our chosen means of expressing these varied responses, to learn more about ourselves, to establish a community of learners who trust each other and enjoy sharing ideas, and to celebrate art, life, story and the creative process!
