Zine Making Class

Open to students entering grades 5 - 8

In this class, we will write, draw, photograph, cut, fold and paste our way to creating our own original magazines. We will learn about the history of do-it-yourself publishing, learn basic book-making and paper-folding skills, gather stories and images and synthesize them into mini-zines and one larger collaborative class zine. This class includes weekly field trips to places around Chicago such as Quimby’s book store in Wicker Park, as well as frequent photographic excursions and trips to distribute our zines around the city. The class will utilize the School’s computer labs and photography equipment.

Session II: July 14 - August 1
