Readers and Writers Workshop II

Open to students entering grade 2

Sometimes the first grader needs a little extra time to gain the confidence and skills they need to become a better reader. This class will give each child daily opportunities to read books at their appropriate reading levels. We will choose from among beginning readers, early chapter books, fairy tale plays, and non-fiction books. Daily reading lessons will help children develop successful reading strategies, strengthen word recognition, and improve reading fluency. Writing activities and games will provide further practice with word families and high frequency words. This class is for children who need extra reading and writing help this summer to better prepare them for second grade.

Full Session: June 23 - August 1
