Chicago Buildings Project

For 13 years, students in Joyce Carrasco's third-grade classroom have been constructing their favorite Chicago building or landmark. As a part of their study of the history of Chicago, the students have studied the impressive skyline for its many historical images. The Sears Tower, The Water Tower, Buckingham Fountain and Shedd Aquarium have been joined this year by the Crown Fountain and the "Bean". With help and encouragement from parents, the third graders have built amazing structures out of cardboard, straws, pipe cleaners, clay, toothpicks, paint, mirrors, and even a water pump and working light bulbs. Buildings from the class of 2007-08 are on display in a slide show below.
