As I lie on my bed gazing out my windows while
the cool breeze blows against my face, I see other windows from the buildings
across from mine. I can only imagine what the people behind these windows
are seeing, maybe a different view or a different world. |

 |
Across the street I see Lake Michigan, the smooth
reflection of my building on the pale blue water gives me chills, as I can
almost see my own reflection on the water. I see the reflection of my building
and other buildings glistening in the night. I see the reflection of other
people looking out their windows. I wonder if they can see my reflection,
know my thoughts. |

 |
While looking out my windows, I see a face formed by the glaring
light in the night. The face seems to be loking straight at me. I move closer
to the window to get a better look. Its eyes penetrate, draining my energy.
Then one by one the lights in the windows fade. Fade until there is no light
to be seen. I'm alone again. |

 |
What is behind a window, I wonder as my imagination drifts
like the waves. |
