Trailer Fun!!!

This movie was made while "I Love Lucy" was on television in 1954. The star actors of The Long, Long Trailer, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, are also the stars of "I Love Lucy." And they play characters that have very similar names to their names in "I Love Lucy." In the movie, Lucille Ball's name is Tacy, just like Lucy. Desi Arnaz's name is Nicky, just like Ricky.

The Long, Long Trailer was directed by Vincente Minnelli in 1954 at MGM Studios, and it isn't rated. Lucille Ball plays Tacy Collini, a weird, funny person who is married to Nicky. Desi Arnaz plays Nicky Collini, a nice, funny person who doesn't approve of Tacy's rock collecting.

The Long, Long Trailer is about what happens when a nice, funny, newly-married couple go on their honeymoon. They buy a long, long trailer, and Nicky learns to drive his car with the trailer hitched. But he keeps forgetting to stop the trailer breaks first. Afterwards, that loud screech of the trailer breaks and the sound of the instructor yelling, "Trailer breaks first!" goes through his head all day.

It's very funny. Nicky and Tacy find a trailer camp, but it's too noisy, so they leave. They find another trailer camp, and travel there, but they have a heck of a time getting there! First, people put a sign that says just married and streamers on the back of their trailer, and everyone's beeping at them. Then during the stormy night, the trailer is sort of sideways, so Nicky props it up with a small contraption. But it breaks, and Tacy falls out the door into the mud! Then the Collinis make a big mistake--driving the car (and trailer) while Tacy is in the trailer cooking dinner. The flour gets poured on her, and the trailer is a real mess!

Then Tacy starts to collect rocks, it weighs the trailer down. Nicky tells Tacy to get rid of her rocks, and what do you think Tacy does? She hides them! But they have to drive up 8,000 feet to get to the trailer camp! Nicky finds out about the rocks, and throws them off the road and off a cliff. Tacy's mad at him now. Will they ever get to the top?

In this funny movie I think Tacy is an intriguing character. If you like "I Love Lucy" you'll like this movie because Tacy acts like Lucy. She's funny and will do anything to get her way!

I really recommend this delightful comedy classic! Kids and adults will like it a lot. One reason I like the movie is because it's very funny especially when Nicky can't get the trailer break sound out of his head. Another reason I like the movie is because I like "I Love Lucy". Anybody who likes that show will like The Long, Long Trailer. I give it four stars!
