It is the year 2001, and Dave Bowman is in a pod capsule. He is trying to save Frank Poole, a man who is floating around unconscious in space. Dave grabs Frank with the capsule's arms. He turns around. He asks HAL 9000, a computer which controls the main ship and who Dave thinks has a mind of it's own, to open the door so he can get back inside. "I don't think I can do that, Dave. You were planning to disconnect me. I saw you're lips move. I can't let you do that, Dave," HAL 9000 replies.

Dave keeps asking, and HAL keeps refusing. "Then I'll go through the emergency door," Dave says.

"I'm afraid without your space helmet that would be quite difficult," HAL says.

Dave remembers he left his space helmet in the ship. What will Dave do?

2001: A Space Odyssey was directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1968 at MGM Studios. It isn't rated. Keir Dullea plays David Bowman, a brave man who takes risks. Gary Lockwood plays Frank Poole, Dave's weird companion. Douglas Rain does the voice of HAL 9000, a mysterious computer who controls the ship. This great movie is about space travel

2001: A Space Odyssey is about what happens when in the year 2001 space travelers go to the earth's moon and find a strange rectangular black object there called a monolith. They find out that the monolith is sending strange signals to one of Jupiter's moons. But before the travelers get back, the monolith lets out a high-pitched noise that kills all the space travelers. Then 18 months later some more space travelers go to one of Jupiter's moons to find out what was going on. There are five men on the ship. Three of them are in a weird hibernation. Frank Poole and Dave Bowman suspect something is wrong with HAL 9000, the computer that controls the ship. HAL is supposed to never be wrong. Dave and Frank decide to disconnect HAL. Then Frank somehow floats off into space, and Dave has to rescue him. But then HAL won't let Dave back in! Dave finally gets back in and disconnects HAL. He finds a strange place that looks like someone's home. What will he do now? Will he go back to earth? Will he stay there? Find out in this exciting adventure!

I think HAL 9000 is an intriguing character. It is sort of a cute computer. They give HAL a human voice, so you can really understand him.

I would really recommend this thrilling adventure! Kids and adults would like it, but it's a little hard to understand. I liked it because of all the future details, especially the funky chairs, and the food and drinks. I also liked it because of HAL 9000.
