Annhilation DayIndependence DayReviewed by Nora Becker Two men sit in an unmoving space flying whatsit. The black pilot's name is Capt. Steven Hiller, and the man sitting next to him is David Levinson, an alien fighter who used to be a cable television engineer. Hiller pulls the alien steering wheel. The spacecraft flies backward and crashes into a wall. "Oops," says Hiller. "Oops?" Levinson says, a little panicked. "Oops? Whadda ya mean oops?". "Some darn fool put the directions on upside down" says Hiller, busily putting the directions right side up. "Lets try that again". "Yes, yes" says Levinson "Without the oops. " They zoom up towards the gray blob of the mother ship looming in the distance. All of a sudden the steering wheel starts moving on it's own. "What the-" Hiller says angrily, trying to get control. "Don't touch it!" Levinson says suddenly. "I was counting on this. "And when was you going to tell me? "Hiller queries. Levinson looks at him unashamedly. "Oops." Independence Day is a movie that's sometimes funny, sometimes not. Hiller and Levinson are in the alien spacecraft because aliens have come to earth destroyed all the major cites and killed a lot of people. The United States tried to blow up the aliens with nuclear weapons and it didn't work! So Hiller and Levinson had an idea so they are going up to try and dock with the mother ship. One thing I didn't like about this movie is they let the First Lady die! My dad is a doctor and he says that he would have been able to save her. I mean, she hung on for a long time, and then all of a sudden the doctors say "Whoops. We lost her." I definitely wouldn't want them for my doctors! I think this is definitely a movie worth seeing. The special effects are wonderful. It really looks spectacular on a big movie screen.
