    King Kong (1976 version)
    Reviewed by Allen Nelson

"KONG! KONG! KONG! KONG! KONG!" The island natives keep up the chant.

Jack looks over the ledge. Suddenly the island native with a mask stops everyone. Jack knows he has seen him and the others.

"He's coming up here," says Jack. "Don't fire except in the air."

The masked island native comes up the hill with a small band of natives behind him.

He starts talking in a wierd language. "I think he's trying to say we've contaminated his magic," said Jack. "Fire in the air now!"

The men fire their guns and the islanders fall back, suprised by the loud noise.

In this scene, you find out that King Kong is so powerful and fearful that some peolple could think of him as a God. The white men don't know that--yet.

King Kong (the 1976 version) is about the same as the original one, except that at the end Kong falls off of the World Trade Center (instead of the Empire State Building), and he looks a lot more real than in the first.

If you haven't seen the original, here's a plot summary:

An expedition of the "Petrox" company is exploring in search of oil. On a strange island, they discover a giant ape, King Kong, who is captured by the expedition in order to make money exhibiting him to the world. When they bring him to the US, the huge gorilla becomes restless, trying to return home. He breaks free and is loose in New York, where he climbs the World Trade Center and falls to his death. It is sad at the end, something that you would not expect a horror movie to be.
