All the characters that survived the Star Wars Trilogy are also in Darksaber but they have changed. Han and Leia are married and have three children, twins named Jacen and Jaina who are three years old and now "starting to get into everything"(p.41) and Anikin, their third, is only about two. He remains "quiet and with drawn, sleeping allot and barely attempting to talk"(p.41) it is almost like he "lived in his own world"(p.41).
In one of the many sub plots Luke has a relationship with a former jedi master, named Callista, like him self who has lost her powers, and Luke tries to help her get them back.
This book was and interesting and caught my attention because it was a science fiction novel and if you like Star Wars then this is a good book. It was a long yet suspenseful book because of the quarrels between characters and the mean treachery. The setting made the plot and the charicters more interesting but on the other hand Kevin J. Anderson gets into too much depth and detail about the setting which makes you wait for what is actually going to happen.
This book should be able to exist on it's own terms. a part about the jedi academy which is Another book Kevin J. Anderson wrote and if you did not read that book then you would be totally lost. an other thing this author did not do was to let you learn to get to know the characters so when they got hurt you cared about what was going to happen to them and worry about them. Another thing is that this book didn't do was to make the book apart from the trilogy the plot was almost exactly the same especially at the and he could have changed it a bit more so it would not be so predictable.
