He wins the contest with help from Goober. And towards the end, he even starts to like Goober. I like this book, because it really shows the life of a young boy change and mature in his views of life. The author did a good job of describing Jonah's feelings. He realizes that Goober was a great friend, and finished the card for him.
Did Jonah become a liar, though? He lied to his parents and teachers just for the greed of money. Was he a Fairlee boy when the motto "honesty"? But, as Jonah goes through the year he finally realizes what a Fairlee boy really is.
"This has been a good experience, I hope we can stay in touch "(pg.111), said Jonah as he gave Goober some of his prize money." I really learned a lot including how to be a Fairlee boy'',(pg.112) said Jonah as he waved goodbye to Goober. If that isn' t Fairlee boy material, what is?
