CoMe aS YoU ARe, The Story Of Nirvana by Michael Azerrad

What do you think about when you hear the name Nirvana? Some people would think of an ideal condition of harmony. Though people like me would think about the great band that started generation X.

Kurt Cobain was born in a small town in Washington. Ever since Kurt was the age of 7, he had a dream of becoming a famous rock star ; and that's what he did. Kurt lived a very hard childhood. His father, who was a drunk, was very abusive to Kurt and his older brother. But that didn't stop Kurt from following his dream. In a few years he would become the led singer of one of the greatest bands of all time, Nirvana.

Nirvana formed in Seattle, Washington. The band members consisted of Kurt, Dave, and Dave; who is now the lead singer of a band called Foo Fighters. All met in high school, and from then on they knew what they wanted to do in life. Nirvana started off as a band that not many paid attention to. They had small shows with groups like Tad, and other Seattle bands. They started writing more and more songs, until they were invited to do a show on MTV. The crowed loved them. Nirvana was booked for more and more shows, and they finally came out with there first album "Bleach''. That would be followed by another album called "Nevermind''. This album sold 5 million copies world wide. This CD contained songs like, ''Smells like teen spirit, and ''Lithium''. Both songs would reach number 1 on the MTV charts!

No one knew, not even Kurt's closest friends, that Kurt had become bored with playing. He didn't like going on tours , but he never told anyone. He didn't want to stop playing because he thought that his fans, and family would be mad at him. He killed himself on a cold April day. His body wasn't found until 2 days after his death. His death rocked the rock world. This book is filled with drama, passion, and sadness. I would recommend this book to anyone, at any age.
