Dead Island

My name is Peter Jackson. I was a pirate. I will now tell you my story.

The first thing I saw as I was swimming away from my sinking ship was an island with exploding volcanoes. The volcanoes were made of solid rock with hot lava pouring out of the top. The sand was very hot and there was a dead river. There was a big shark circling the island. I got up on the beach just in time.

I entered a part of the island that was all rain forest. I saw a bird drink the water from a pond with a river and fall down dead. Then I knew that the water was undrinkable. I didn't know how I was going to survive.

I looked at my watch. It was 11:00 PM. I wondered if the captain called for help on the radio before the ship went down. I decided to go to sleep on a patch of grass.

By morning I saw a storm coming. I went to the desert part of the island. To my surprise, only the rain forest part got wet. When the small storm was over, I decided to try and kill the shark. I made a spear and a small canoe in about 8 hours, using my Swiss army knife and branches and vines. I pushed off at about 4:30 PM. I managed to wound the shark but did not come close to killing it.

At about 6:00 PM I saw a ship with black sails coming towards the island. I saw them drop anchor. Three men in a row boat pulled up on shore. It was Jack, Mad Dog and Mark. They were some fellow pirates of mine that survived the crash. "We saw the spear in the shark and knew it was you." Then they rescued me and now I am 73 years old and in very good health.
