Baboon Island

By Drew Pippin

My name is Chichi. I was captured out of my home and am being dragged off to a zoo in Kenya.

One day we were traveling when we were sucked into a whirlpool and I was thrown out of the boat ! I struggled to get out of my cage. When I had almost hit the bottom of the ocean I slashed through the metal bars, and swam up to sea level. I saw a small island just about 100 feet away. I swam over to it and climbed on shore . There were just enough trees to build a small raft. I set to work . I was done by night . I pushed the raft off a bit before midnight. I saw flame and turned my ship towards the light and went to sleep.

I was woken with a jolt. I can't remember much because I was knocked unconscious . When I came to my senses I was in a village full of baboons. One old and frail baboon lead me to a hut where I saw the strongest and fiercest baboon I ever saw. I asked him where I was and why I was here? He spoke clear and wise, " My name is Spike and there is no exact location . You chose to come here."

"My name is Chichi," I said

He lead me out. We walked for about 5 miles. There was a long river coming down. Spike was pointing at something way off in the distance. I saw cars driving and guns firing. "They're plotting attack," Spike said

I immediately said I wanted to help them . He said to stay there. He ran off. I waited for about an hour when he came back, but he wasn't alone. He had gorillas, mandrills & baboons. The gorillas manned the catapult, but the mandrill went away or had a special attack planned. The baboons would come right at them ,but first we would sleep. Then attack at dawn. That's when I drew this map and wrote a geographical report.

Facts

Weather
The weather on the east side is always perfect and there are plenty of trees. The weather on the west side is always horrible. It's either raining or freezing but most of the time it's extremely hot!

Eating
The primates eat insects large and small mammals and some plants. The humans eat whatever they can find , but hardly ever primates, and when they eat meat it's cooked.

Barter
There is no barter. They just take what they find !

Government organization
The leader of the primates is Spike , but the humans have no organization.

River
The river on my island feeds into an unknown ocean. The river flows down and makes a valley like place but is filled with water. The waters are always rapid and then at the end it flows off into a waterfall and flows away from the island

Mountains
My mountains over 5 million years old. They are called "the flying mountains."

Vegetation
There are trees all over the east side of my island Most of the trees are inhabited all by primates. On the west side it is just barren waste land that is hell.

Primates/ poacher
We the primates are attacking humans because they are trying to develop a barter for primate hides .

The worshipers
These people are good. Their religion is to worship primates . They are all masters of magic.

That morning we set out for a battle. First the gorillas fired the catapult. Then the humans wasted their ammo. Then we charged in . We were winning for a while, at least. One poacher leapt up into the air and turned around and ripped out the leader's throat. He still was living so I shredded him and ripped out his spinal cord after that I yanked out his heart and let out a victorious scream !

We all saw it. Spike leaped up into the air and was shot down. We all failed to kill. We almost were about lose the battle when the mandrills came down on hang-gliders with the worshipers. They really put us ahead and they chased them till they got water!

The next day I was elected king and changed my name to Baboona. The king's burial was very sad and we buried him on an abandoned island!
