After School: Daily Programs

Hour After is available for children in grades nursery through two who are awaiting dismissal of their older siblings, or choosing to stay an extra hour for whatever reason. Hour After activities and dismissal follow similar structure to Late Day. Register . . .

Late Day is available until as late as 5:30 pm for students in grades nursery through six. Students may choose to attend for 2, 3, or 4 hours depending on which day and on the desired dismissal time.

Late Day activities include snack, outdoor play, some homework time for grades 3 and up, with assistance and guidance available, and other project or field trip activities. Supervision is close and attendance is closely monitored. Children registered but absent will receive calls home until they are located, so please contact Lab After School if your child will be absent.

Children are grouped according to age and grade; supervision and activity selection are age appropriate. Registration is available Daily, e.g., Mondays and Thursdays for the quarter, or Weekly (i.e., 5 days/week) for the quarter. “Occasional Use” is also available on a daily basis by contacting the Lab After School office. Register . . .

Quiet Study Hall In addition to the Late Day option above, Middle School students who prefer to concentrate on homework may enroll in Quiet Study Hall. Snack will be available to these students. Supervision will include assistance and guidance with homework, within limitations, and the study hall environment, i.e., quiet, will be maintained. Students may schedule Quiet Study Hall on some days and Late Day on other days. Register . . .

New for Middle School —

Presenting Club 58! Club 58 is for Middle School students, and families, who are looking for a less structured, more “social” activity period during the interval between school and the ride home. Or between school and another activity that occurs later on, e.g., drama or athletics. Or following their other after school activity (e.g. Jammed Locker, practice, etc.) until they are picked up at 5:30.

Club 58 will meet in Café Lab. Children will sign themselves in and out; no ‘search’ will be conducted for registered but absent children. Club 58 will be a place for students to hang out, do homework, play games, and socialize. Snack will not be provided but will be available for purchase from Café Lab or vending machines. Registration is available on a Quarterly basis. Unregistered students may sign-up for daily use or “drop-in” and they will be billed the daily rate. Register . . .

Dismissal and Pick-up Hour After students may be dismissed via carline, the Blaine steps, or North Side Bus.

Late Day students 4th grade and below are dismissed at the Blaine steps. Middle School students self-dismiss from their Lab After School locations at the end of their day.

Parents and caregivers who choose to come early may find their students at their location or at playground locations posted at the classrooms or at the Blaine Hall security desk. Please be certain to make contact with your child’s Lab After School supervisor if retrieving your child ahead of schedule.
