Blaine Parents' Paperback Bookstore

The Blaine Parents' Paperback Bookstore is a not-for-profit children's bookstore geared to affordable (mostly) paperback editions of classics and newly published diverse selections for Lab's youngest "readers" through middle schoolers. The bookstore is located in Blaine 101 just off the Lobby.

Parent volunteers staff and run the bookstore as well as Book Swap, a spring event where lower school students can exchange books. Each year in conjunction with the school-wide Rites of May celebration, the Blaine Paperback Bookstore sponsors the Scholastic Book Fair. This three-day event is held in Belfield Gym and features a large selection of books for all ages, including adults. Strong support from the Lab community makes this our largest source of revenue.

The Bookstore Committee donates proceeds to the Blaine Library Author Visit Fund* and to a fund that is used for Lower School scholarships for tutoring in reading

Beginning in 2008-2009, the bookstore will award all Lab first graders a book voucher worth up to $4 in recognition of their newly acquired reading skills. All bookstore buyers who purchase six books receive a "Bonus Book" up to a value of six dollars.
