The Laboratory Schools community is invited to a special show of student photography based on personal reactions to the war in Iraq. The exhibition will run from May 23 through June 20 on the first floor of the Regenstein Library, 1100 E. 57th St.

The exhibition, “duct and cover(t),” will feature the work of thirteen members of teacher Liese Rickett’s Advanced Photography class. Their work will also be available to viewers online at the library’s Web site, www.lib.uchicago.edu. Lab families are invited to an opening reception from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 23.

For the exhibition, the students made mural-sized self-portrait photographs with a 4” x 5” view camera. The students worked in teams to set up handmade backgrounds and lights in a photo studio, producing highly personal works on themes of propaganda, security, and wartime media.
