Great season for U-High sports!

In a fantastic fall season, the U-High Maroons topped the Independent School League as champions in three sports, had ISL individual Players of the Year in three sports and an ISL Coach of the Year in volleyball, sent twelve athletes to State Finals, and set four new school records in swimming. This semester also saw the debut of the University High School Golf Team.

Varsity Girls Volleyball

The team had an enviable 24 -6 record, won the ISL Championship, and boasted a number of ISL All-Conference players: Laura Oxtoby, Olivia John, Shubra Ohri, and Rebecca Diamond, who was also named ISL Player of the Year. Coach Joyce Stiles was selected as ISL Coach of the Year.

Boys Varsity Soccer

The team is justifiably proud of its 17-6 record and two All-Sectional Players, John Oxtoby and Nathaniel Meadow. Isaac Redleaf received an All-Sectional Honorable Mention. Our Independent School League All-Conference Players were John Oxtoby, Nathaniel Meadow, Isaac Redleaf, and Jules Federle, with Zeyen Wu receiving an ISL Honorable Mention. John Oxtoby was the ISL Player of the Year.

Junior Varsity Soccer

The team posted an impressive 13-3-4 record and were both Independent School League Champions and Rich East Tournament Champions.

Girls Cross Country

U-High hosted its first State Regional Championship with the girls finishing in first place and Becky Levine as the overall champion. The team placed fifth at the State Sectional Meet, and Becky Levine was second place overall. Becky Levine, Shelly Carr, Jessie Sklarsky, Ainah Tan, Katie Beal, Hannah Shaw, and Ilana Rotmensch qualified for the State Meet in Peoria. In the ISL, the team finished second (thanks to the freshman retreat!), with All-Conference honors going to Hannah Shaw, Katie Beal, and Shelly Carr.

Boys Cross Country

U-High hosted its first State Regional Championship, with the boys finishing in fifth place. The team also finished fifth in the ISL Meet.

Varsity Girls Tennis

The team posted a 12- 4 record, were undefeated in Independent School League competition, and won the ISL Championship for the third consecutive year. Jenny Heydemann and Shilpa Gulati were selected as ISL Players of the Year. The team finished in second place at the State Sectionals, with Emma Barber, Camille Clark, Shilpa Gulati, Jenny Heydemann, and Mara Ravitz as State Qualifiers. The team finished 29th in the state, the highest finish for a class A school.

Girls Swimming

The team had a 3-5-1 record and collected a first place finish at the Whitney Young Triangle Meet. Senior Meagan Lombaer set a new school record in the 100 Free with a time of 0:56:63, and sophomore Catherine Cantwell set three new school records in the 50 Free (0:26.3), 60 Free (0:31.9), and 100 Breaststroke (1:11.6).
