Connections 2002
promises to be an elegant affair with a scientific mission. This year's celebration
will take place on Saturday, April 20, at the "industrial chic" site
of A. Finkl & Sons on Chicago's near north side. All proceeds from the evening
will go to "Rehab the Labs," the multi-phase initiative to renovate
the high school science labs.
A fabulous evening of dancing and a formal dinner catered by George Jewell
is just the beginning. ABC7 News Anchor Linda Yu will be the host of the event,
which will be dedicated to
Director
Lucinda Lee Katz in her final year at the Schools.
Tickets are $150 each, and full and partial tables are available at a variety of underwriting levels. Tables with world-renowned scientists from the University of Chicago may be reserved by contacting the Development Office with your underwriting gift at (773) 702-0578. The famous Connections auction returns this year with an unusual twist: all auction items will be one-of-a-kind works on canvas. Auction chairperson Dee Levy says that the "Create a Canvas" project will allow the entire Lab community to let their imaginations run free. "We need everyone's help with this. You can sponsor a canvas, in a variety of sizes, for a class or an artistprofessional or not, young or old," Levy said. "If you donŐt have an artist in mind, we'll find one for you!"
"Create a Canvas" will bring out the crazy to classical. Canvases can be cut and twisted, built up, montaged, collaged, or paintedanything goes! To sponsor or create a canvas, call Dee Levy at (773) 955-4658.
