Shop online with schoolpop.com to benefit Lab

Parents and friends of the Laboratory Schools may now purchase food, clothing, gifts, and services through an online shopping service and benefit the Schools at the same time.

In November, Lower School parents received a letter from the Parents' Association explaining schoolpop.com, as well as a registration form for the service. Middle Ground and Midway articles also spotlighted the program. The Association encourages parents and friends of the Schools to visit the site, register electronically, and select the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools as the school they wish to support.

More than 250 top merchants and services can be accessed through the schoolpop.com site, including Amazon, Land's End, Gap Kids, and Eddie Bauer (all of which rebate 3.75 percent to Lab ), and Webvan (which rebates 2.5 to 4 percent). Shoppers must make their purchases via the schoolpop.com site during each online session in order to benefit Lab.

"We are truly excited to be taking part in such a program," said Jackie Rapp, who is organizing the effort. "People who are looking for a simple way to do their holiday shopping should check out this site before going to the store. They could save themselves some trouble and benefit the Schools at the same time."
