Levi's Cave

By: Christin Aucunas

At camp L.O.M.C. my favorite place was Levi's Cave. The sandstone shone like diamonds in the sand of an open beach. It was captivating and moving. I sat in the cave and imagined that I saw prairie grass for miles. That's all I saw for miles as I sat in silence. I imagined that I was an Indian girl. I was running through the fields. I was playing a game of tag with my corn husk doll. My soft leather moccasins covered my feet. My beaded dress was long and flowing. My long brown hair was blowing in the wind like water in a fast rushing creek. Then I saw an ocean and waves was what I heard. Then it was silent. I started to walk back to the cabin with my friend and we said that someday this will be gone and there will be roads, buildings, traffic and people. How upsetting to think that future generations might not see this place.
