A Weekend with Stress Challenge

By: Madeleine Hanks

This week was a great week for me at LOMC. I usually don't get used much except in the summer when lots of little kids come to visit me. Mr. Matsikas' group climbed the wall with slight challenge but showed grace, swiftness, and displayed great teamwork. Most kids like stress challenge. The same group tried the tire swing and had quite some trouble, but still some managed to get across. They actually did my Grant Canyon first which I think they liked, but did not top the wall. They had one problem which is the tallest boy fell off right after he had reached the front of the log so he had to go all the way to the back and make his way through the line. Otherwise it was a piece of cake for them.

Later they left and I was alone listening to the fall leaves fall onto my soil. Soon it would be winter and the ground would be covered in snow. I don't know what the children do when they leave me. I suspect they forget all about me, but there are some people who come and visit me regularly. They fix me up, kind of like check-up at the doctors. There are lots of people and animals to keep me company in the summer, but they all go away in the winter. Even though I feel lonely, I find that the peace and quiet is good.
