My group is in this picture. We are roasting hot dogs over a fire for lunch. It was really hard to get our fire started. It was worth the effort though because I really enjoyed the hot dogs. Everybody had to find sticks to roast their hot dogs on. A lot of the hot dogs fell off the sticks. We also had potato chips, apples and cookies for lunch.

This is a picture of my group. That day was the nicest day we were there. We were having a cookout. We all had two hot dogs. One of mine fell in.

Ms.Lesher's group is having lunch. A lot of turkey dogs fell in the fire or broke in half because the stick was too big.

Right then we are about to roast turkey dogs on the would-be campfire that we are about to finish after it burned out several times. This was taken on the second day at camp right before canoeing. (Luckily no one fell off like the first time.)

This is the group I was in. We were eating lunch and we could not get the fire started because everyone was crowding it and the fire kept on blowing out. I left and used another group's fire and got a hot hot dog fast. It was really good. For dessert we had sugar cookies but Ms. Oakes lost the cookies.

Lunch was nice at camp when we made our own hot dogs. It took Ms. Oakes' group a long time to get our fire started. Ms. Dorman's group joined us to help us get it going. We all ended up cooking our hot dogs at another fire that was a lot better than ours. I think we all had fun that day. A couple of us ended up eating our dogs cold, but we still ate lots of apples and chips to go along with the cookies for "dessert."

This is Ms. Oaks' group during the cook out. We had lots of fun making our own food. We gathered our own wood and made our own fire. Then we gathered some more sticks, so we could cook our hot dogs (although most us burned ours). With that we ate chips, cookies, apples and water. Making our own lunch was fun!

That's Ms. Dorman's group when we were eating hot dogs and cooked them ourselves over the fire that the teachers made for us. They were actually turkey dogs for the people who don't eat red meat, for the vegetarians. You had to search for sticks to put the turkey dogs on so that you could cook them. It was really smokey and it was killing our eyes. Somebody is really enjoying their hot dog. On the same day we went canoeing. My partners were two boys.

This is my group, Ms.Dorman's group. We all just finished our hot dogs and sat down to eat and Ms. Hahn took a picture of all of us. She used her digital camera.

This is my group #10 at the barbecue having hot dogs that were half cooked and had ash all over them. On the second day of camp, when we were making a fire for the barbecue it hurt our eyes when we were roasting our hot dogs. After the hot dogs we did owl pellets which is dissecting the hair and bones that a owl coughs up, stress challenge (lots of fun!) and canoeing. Later that day after the chicken dinner my friends and I went to the campfire where we had talking contest which were to see who talked the most and also sung songs really loud.

I'm in the back in the red shirt, eating a hot dog. With me is one of my friends. We were exhausted from gathering huge branches for the fire, and after we had eaten, we tended the fire, feeding it, rekindling it, and helping people get their hot dogs out of it. I liked that time, but I don't have a good picture of it with me in it.

This is my friends and I sitting and eating the hot dogs that we cooked over a fire. We had lots of fun! We also had cookies and carrots and chips. Yuuuuuuuuumy.! Camp was so fun I got to meet new friends and everything. We did have some troubles getting the fire going because it rained the night before. I was in group 6. CAMP WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!

At camp we had a cookout on this huge lawn. We made our own fire and roasted our hot dogs. Some of the hot dogs got on fire and we had to roast a new one. We got to eat and talk to our friends like we're doing here. Having cookouts is fun!!

In this picture Ms. Vaughan's group is eating lunch. We had trouble getting the fire started because the wind kept blowing it out and people kept bringing green firewood and several hot dogs ended up in the fire.

Ater finding the fire wood and carrying cold hot dogs to their fire Ms.Vaughan's group had to coax their fire to life. Then Ms.Vaughan's group finally got to cook hot dogs and eat.

HOT DOGS On the second day of the 3 days of camp we had lunch outside instead of inside the lunch room. That day we cooked hot dogs on a fire with chips, apples and cookies on the side. We couldn't really start the fire so that lady in the sunglasses had to help it.

This is a picture of Ms.Eisenberg's group, the group I was in. We had just finished eating a lunch of half burned, half still not very warm hot dogs. We gathered sticks for the fire and sticks for cooking the hot dogs on. Once it was burning okay we started holding the hot dogs over the fire in an attempt to cook them, even though our instructors said we should wait until they had some coal on the fire. I held my hot dog over the fire until my arm got tired so I tried it. It felt colder than when I started. I was about ready to just forget the hot dogs and have an apple for lunch, but one of my friends insisted on trying to cook my hot dog so I let her. She came back five minutes later to a very skeptical me. I told her I had cooked it for twice as long once before and it hadn't done anything, but I tried it anyway. I think she's magical. It was warm and, even though it wasn't perfect, it was definitely better than just having an apple.

This is group 8 at the cook out. We had hot dogs and apples. It took a long time to get the fire started but finally we got the fire started and had lunch. After the cook out we went on a ravine hike.

Smoke gets in your eyes! From the way these grilled hot dogs tasted, you would think we were better cooks than the people at the LOMC. We roasted apples too; they're sweet and charred and delicious. As a matter of fact, the food in the mess hall was kind of horrible; I wish they'd just let us grill all through the trip. We built our own fire, and it worked pretty well. There were plenty of cookies as well.

Here you will see our brave troops who are trying to eat the food. It seems to be a long, frozen bar of salt. This is Mr. Matsikas' group and Mr. Wilson's group during the cook-out on the second day. They are making and eating hot dogs while the other groups eat at their own fires. We had to gather the wood from the woods and start are own fires. We also had to get sticks from trees and then scrape off the top and so we can roast the hot dogs on our sticks. We had to roast the hot dogs from when they were frozen to when they are warm and toasty. They have ketchup, mustard, cookies, hot dogs, chips, etc.

This is a picture of me with one of my best friends sitting across from me at camp. I am wearing a brown shirt my friend is wearing a pink shirt. We had just had hot dogs cooked over a campfire. For the campfire we had to gather lots of wood from the edge of the field. Mr. Matsikas made the fire with a lot of encouragement from Mr.Wilson. Then we cooked the hot dogs. Unfortunately quite a few of the people's hot dogs fell into the fire. I ate mine with quite a lot of ketchup so I could not taste the burnt parts. I had just been telling a really funny joke so that is why we are laughing.

This is Mr. Matsikas' group. They're cooking and eating hot dogs. I bet they taste good. Many people's hot dogs broke in half and fell into the fire! People were relieved if their hot dog did not fall into the fire. The smoke would pierce people's eyes, so they would have to back away from the fire every once in awhile.

The picture that I'm writing about is of my group leader Mr. Matsikas. In the picture he is in the bottom left hand corner. At the time we were cooking hot dogs. But before that we had to get some baskets filled with food and plates and things like that. When we had finally carried all the stuff to the area where we were supposed cook the hot dogs we had to go find dry wood around where we were. It was really hard because there wasn't much dry wood there because it rained the night before. We also had to get a lot of it because the teachers kept telling us to get more wood. Then we also got some dry grass but that was easy to get. When finished doing that we had to get a stick to warm our hot dogs. It was really annoying when we were cooking the hot dogs because it was a bit windy and we had to get pretty close to the fire so smoke kept blowing into our eyes.

Lunch on the second day at camp. 99% of the hot dogs got burned. We are eating hot dogs by the fire and playing games outside for our picnic. I like the whole trip and the activites that we did.
