When you go to camp you get many activities to play and this is one of my favorite activities. In canoeing you get to pick your own partner and you can go anywhere on the lake, but you can't crash into anyone or swing your canoe. You also have to pass a muddy trail to get to the lake.

Canoeing is really fun. You can do it with one partner or two. You have a pretty big pond to go canoeing in, but the only bad thing is you have to wear those orange, ripped, old life preservers. Be careful not to tip, though...it's cold in the water!
In this picture two kids are canoeing on the lake and in the background you can see the nuclear power plant. It was the first day, and first hour of camp with groups 1 & 2 canoeing on a lake near LOMC (Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Camp). On the lake was a cove. My friend and I got stuck in the cove because the wind blew us toward the cove. We did not have enough time to get around because the canoe kept turning itself. So we went to shore and I did the steering (on picture, in the back).

We are canoeing. Since the canoes are hard to steer we ran into the banks a lot.

On the first day, we went canoeing. We had to wear life jackets. We also had partners. The person who sits in the back of the canoe has to paddle. Canoeing was fun.

Here are two people going canoeing and it looks like they are having fun. They just started from the dock and it looks like the water is pretty shallow. But I think I was told that the water in the middle is 25 feet deep (I would hate to fall in there).

Rowing on the water is a lot of fun, especially with friends. But if you don't know how, then it's pretty scary especially if you don't know how to steer, or turn. Anything can happen! The look on my face is weird, I know, but I was nervous. But at least my partner knew how to steer. Here we are, pushing off from dock. I was gripping the paddle so tightly my knuckles hurt. But I still didn't let go. I didn't want the paddle to fall in the water. It was fun!

This is my partner and I canoeing. We almost got stuck against the shore but we got free. We explored the shore when she steered us into the bushes.

This is canoeing on the first day. There is a pond there where you canoe; it's a lot of fun. First you go into a shed where they store the paddles and life vests. There are usually two people to a canoe. The canoes were pretty much all silver.

This is a picture of some kids canoeing. The lake was very big. The two girls in the front were coming in to switch places in the canoe. A lot of people got stuck in the bushes because the wind would blow you in the bushes. Canoeing was fun although you had to wear these old, orange, ripped, styrophone oozing life jackets. There was three to a canoe, one in the front, one in the middle, and one in the back although some canoes only had two. We had a few tips but nothing happened. There were three instructors( two men and one girl) and they were all really nice. They would help you get in and get out and if you wanted to change places. When it was windy we were not allowed to go in the cove because people were getting stuck and Brooke (an instructor), would have to go out and get them. Canoeing was great!
This picture shows some people canoeing. I canoed too although I am not in this picture. I was mainly the rudder. I swayed often. My partner's paddles often splashed water over me but aside from that it was so fun. I paddled deep which means to put the paddle in vertically. I used my hand as a lever in order to make it easier for me to paddle. I was not the best paddler in the world but I was okay. I had only canoed 10-12 times before and that to a year ago so it was sort of like a new experience.
I liked canoeing, it was kind of scary but that just made it more interesting. Our canoe was tipping most of the time. Sometimes my partner would rock it on purpose; she thought it was funny. My best friend and her partner were in a canoe and someone hit them and her partner stood up and they fell in the water! My best friend had so much fun falling!

This is a picture of two kids on a canoeing trip, most likely their first time. You had to wear a life jacket. Two of the strokes we learned were C stroke and J stroke. You do those by moving your paddle in those shapes on the water. The animals you could see in the water were fish, snakes, and 2 turtles. In canoeing the person in the back steers and the person in the front rows. In the picture the kids just pushed off and are starting to row. Sometimes you bump into the weeds and you try to get out again but they have not bumped into the weeds.
