Parents

From the New Parents' Reception in September to graduation receptions in June, parents enrich the experience for children at the Laboratory Schools. Highlights include the following:

  • Annual giving from parents, which funds financial aid and operations, is vital to sustaining the diversity that is so important to a Lab education and ensuring the best students are able to attend.
  • Lab's annual fundraising event, Connections, led by a team of parent volunteers, raised more than $500,000 in 2008 to support priority educational initiatives and financial aid.
  • The Parents' Association Grants Program awarded funds for innovative teaching and student. initiatives at all school levels, encouraging professional development and enhancement of educational objectives.
  • Parents organized a textbook buyback/resale program that benefited hundreds of middle and high school families.
  • Parents helped students collect and donate school supplies for shipment to Iraqi children.
  • Parents, along with teachers and administrators, helped interview and hire the new Middle School principal.

From visits to enrich classroom activities to arrangements for community service programs, our resourceful, generous, and creative parents provide extraordinary enhancements to the educational life of the Laboratory Schools.
