Lab welcomes six new staffers, and three more change roles

New faculty profiles ran in the last Enews; today we introduce Lab’s new staff members and let you know of some with new jobs titles.

Monika Bahroos joined the Laboratory Schools’ information systems department as a technical support specialist. She is one of the staff members who helps teachers and administrators with technology problems; she also helps maintain the resources we have. Monika has 11 years of technology experience and, most recently, worked for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce where she was a technical operations and business specialist. She is located in Judd 11, 773-702-1852.

Ruthie Neumeier, assistant director of alumni relations and giving, will work with Lab’s vibrant alumni population by helping staff the Alumni Association’s executive board and working with various reunion committees. Prior to coming to the Laboratory Schools, Ruthie was a development research analyst for the Joffrey Ballet. She is a 2011 graduate of Tufts University and is located in the alumni relations and development office in Judd 405, 773-702-3789.

Christal Newell , admissions office assistant, comes to Lab from UChicago where she worked as a fiscal administrative assistant. Previously, Christal was a healthcare administrative claims assistant for Zurich Insurance Company. She attended Prairie State College where she studied computer science. Find her in Judd 120, 773-702-9451.

Yazmin Norwood joins Lab as assistant registrar (after two years as an administrative assistant for the UChicago office of the vice president for campus life and dean of students). She worked on the student data management system as well as financial administration for the office. Her BS from University of Illinois–Urbana Champaign is in accountancy. Her office is in Judd 202, 773-702-2599.

Elizabeth Pesce, ’00, AB’05, began at Lab right at the end of last school year as a donor relations specialist in the Office of Alumni Relations and Development. She attended Lab starting in kindergarten (Ms. Piane was her first grade teacher), graduated in 2000, then went to University of Chicago, earning a BA in English language and literature. Her most recent position prior to Lab was associate marketing and sales account manager for the Law Bulletin Publishing Company. She served as an editor of “CourtBriefs” for the internet-based legal publication. Her office is in Judd 405, 773-702-4410.

Andrew Waldner, development assistant, in the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, began his position over the summer. Previously, Andrew worked for the UChicago Law School as an external affairs administrator and dean’s assistant. Andrew has a BA in journalism and a BS in economics from the University of Kentucky. He can be found in Judd 405, 773-702-0578.
Three Lab staff members moved to new positions within Lab:

Kerry Tulson moved from the alumni relations and development officeafter 12 yearsto join the Admissions Office as the assistant director of admissions, Judd 120, 773-834-3565.

Sandra Palmer moved—after 13 years—from the admissions office where she was a project assistant to the position of physical education assistant, Sunny Gym.

Cheryl Gaimari formerly the departmental assistant in the English, history, and humanities departments for eight years, became the educational program coordinator and is in Judd 105, 773-834-7565.
