The University's Networking Services Group provides telephone services to the Laboratory Schools. IS staffer Michele Wheeler, the Office Technology Coordinator, serves as Lab's telecom liaison. If your question is not among those below, contact Michele for assistance. If you leave the employ of the Lab Schools, kindly share your voicemail passcode with Michele to prevent a passcode reset fee.
Dial 2-9100 to report your problem. The University prefers to hear directly from telephone users. They are normally very prompt in dealing with trouble tickets you call in.
Contact Michele Wheeler at 4-1870. She will ask a few questions and submit the change order to the University telecom. Do not just unplug your phone and plug it in to your new location. It won't work properly. Programming changes need to be made on telecom computers.
Submit a request to Michele Wheeler. Dave Stafford decides what telecom services will be added and for whom.
Submit a request to Michele Wheeler. Again, Dave Stafford decides what requests are approved or not. Michele is just the messenger.
Contact Michele Wheeler. She has some printed materials and can walk you through most basic functions.
There are a variety of long distance access codes to expedite billing. Consult your supervisor or principal for the code assigned to your workgroup. Please use your home or cell phone for personal long distance calls.
The Lab Schools and the University both publish printed directories during the fall quarter. New ones will be delivered to you annually. The University also maintains an online directory available by clicking on "Directories" from the uchicago.edu home page.
There is also a voice dialing system. Dial 161 and state the name of the person you're calling. You'll be connected directly if the person you're calling is in the system AND the system can identify him/her from your voice input. It does not always pull up the person you want, but it useful enough to be worthwhile.
