Garbanzo is a server that runs a couple of simple programs that make it easy for Lower School teachers to share group e-mails and photographs with parents and for parents to e-mail the classroom parent group. Each classroom's space on Garbanzo is password-protected.
IS backs up Garbanzo content during the year, but it is not archived. After school lets out in June, Garbanzo content is deleted. IS does not support Garbanzo in the summer school session.
Garbanzo also hosts the mailing list room parents use to communicate with one another. It is not used to disseminate bulk mail to all Garbanzo parent users.
Using Garbanzo is voluntary. When teachers elect to use it, parent volunteers gather the class parents' e-mail addresses and keep them up to date. Information Systems maintains and backs up the server. If you are interested in using Garbanzo to communicate with parents and enable their communication with one another, contact the Director of Information Technology at 4-1863.
