  • 2015 Girls Swim

    The girls swim team set 4 school records at the IHSA Sectional Championship at UIC on Saturday afternoon.
    The 200 Medley Relay team of Alexis Porter, Taylor Thompson, Maia Bossy and Elizabeth Van Ha dropped 1.48 seconds from the previous record for a time of 1:54.20 and placed second in the Sectional. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Alexis Porter, Taylor Thompson, Zoe Rebollo Baum and Amber Huo dropped 2.03 seconds to 1:42.31 and the 400 Freestyle Relay of Zoe Rebollo Baum, Elizabeth Van Ha, Maia Bossy and Amber Huo dropped 3.77 seconds to 3:44.86.
    Junior Zoe Rebello Baum broke the varsity record in the 100 Backstroke with a 1:00.59 and in the Bloomington meet last week Zoe set the 500 freestyle record 5:28.04.
    In addition to the school records the following students won a Sectional medal(top 6 finish) 200 freestyle Zoe Rebollo Baum 4th, 200 Individual Medley Elizabeth Van Ha 5th place, 500 Freestyle Noa Rebollo Baum 5th, 100 backstroke Zoe Rebollo Baum 3rd and Maia Bossy 5th, 100 breaststroke Taylor Thompson 4th place.
    The Maroons finished 4th of 10 teams scoring 189 team points.
    Congratulations to the team on another successful season, special thanks to our seniors Ilana Dutton, Olivia Perozo, Anjali Das, Lauren Onel,Maia Boussy and to our coaches Kate Chronic and Mirko Mirkov.

  • Volleyball Wins 3A Regional Championship!

    The volleyball team won the 3A Regional Championship tonight defeating North Lawndale College Prep 25-21 25-11 at the Cristo Rey Regional.

    The Maroons advance to the De La Salle Sectional Tuesday @ 7:00pm and compete with Queen of Peace HS in the sectional semi-final match.

    Girls & Boys Cross-Country Teams Win 2A Regional!

    The girls team dominated the field finishing in the first 7 places, junior Elsa Erling was regional champion for the second consecutive year followed by Isabella Khan, Lucy Kenig-Zeisler, Alice Carlstrom, Grace Cain, Sally Carlstrom and Genevieve Nemeth. 2015 marks the 4th consecutive regional championship and their 15th regional championship in the past 20 years.

    The boys team finished 1-2-3 lead by senior Jacob Meyer followed by freshman Abraham Zelchenko and Nick Slimmon. Sonny Lee and Nathan Blevins stepped up to seal the win for the Maroons for their sixth boys regional championship over the past 26 years.

    In today's competition, freshman Jenny Lewis she defeated Champaign Centennial's Lauren Neitzel 6-3 6-1 before losing to Gaby Schoenberg from Grant Fox Lake HS 4-6 1-6 to end her state series run. On Friday, Lab's doubles teams of Anderson/Lewis and Patel/Almeda each won one match and lost two matches to finish their season. Kudos to Jenny and to our tennis team for a fine performance this year, we are currently in 21st place with 8 points.

    The girls tennis team won the IHSA Sectional Championship at St.Ignatius on Saturday scoring 28 points, sending 5 players to the State Finals next weekend. The doubles team of Delnaz Patel/Florence Almeda won the sectional championship defeating their teammates Grace Anderson/Monica Lewis in the final match, freshman Jenny Lewis finished second in the singles competition. Congratulations to the team and our coaching staff of Dawuad Talib, Chelsea Trader and Casey Kennedy on this accomplishment.
    The boys soccer team defeated Lisle HS 2-0 on Jackman Field in front a very large partisan crowd to win the IHSA Regional Championship. Senior Max Rochester and Schuler Small scored the goals, keeper Nigel Van Ha recorded the shut out to lead the Maroons to the Sectional Tournament Wednesday at the Lisle Junior High soccer field vs Chicago Marine Military Academy. The boys team played an excellent match, congrats to all the seniors for leaving Jackman Field for the last time with a fine victory, kudos to our coaches Mike Moses and Carlos Acosta.
    The cross-country teams placed 6 runners on the ISL All-Conference team on our home course Thursday at Washington Park. For the second place girls team Maroons Isabella Khan (3rd) Elsa Erling (5th) Alice Carlstrom (7th) and Grace Cain (9th) won all-conference honors and for the boys Jacob Meyer (2nd) and Abraham Zelchenko (9th) were honored as All-Conference.
    Support the volleyball team in their effort to raise awareness and money for the Side Out Foundation on Tuesday vs Willows Academy in their 6th Annual "Dig Pink" match. The JV team plays at 4:30 with the varsity match to follow at 5:45 in Upper Kovler. Limited Edition t-shirts are being sold for $10.00 by the volleyball team both in the High School hallway and at the match Tuesday.
    The Cross-Country team hosts our 2nd Annual U-High Chicago Bud James Invitational this Tuesday at Washington Park. 20 Middle and High School teams will compete starting at 4:00. GO MAROONS
