Congratulations to the JV girls and Coach Queen on winning the ISJ JV Tournament at Willows Academy on Saturday. The team’s overall record moves to 6-1.

Post Season Maroon Update

U-High girls placed 3rd in the 2A Sectional Cross-Country meet Saturday, scoring 106 points and earning a chance to run at the IHSA State meet next Saturday, November 8th, in Peoria. The Maroons were led by sophomore Elsa Erling (7th overall) and junior Lucy Kenig-Ziesler (12th overall), with great times by Liza Libes, Isabella Khan, Genevieve Nemeth, Alice Carlstrom, and Grace Cain.
U-High boys cross-country ran very well in a close contest, placing 8th in the team standings with 166 points, a narrow 5 points behind the 5th and 6th place teams. Top U-High finishers for the boys were junior Jacob Meyer (3rd) and sophomore Charlie Sowerby (19th), who qualified to run at state next week as individuals, with other runners posting strong times—Harrison Shapiro, Zach Emanuel, Arthur Chang, David Hedges, and Taylor Horton.
The Maroons volleyball team was defeated in the 3A Regional Championship match Thursday by the #1 seed Chicago Christian Knights 25-13 25-20. The team played with heart and determination in both games making U-High proud.

Place your order for 2014-2015 cold weather gear/fan apparel now. All of the products are Adidas. The jackets will be embroidered and the hoodie and t-shirts will be custom screened. Orders will be accepted until October 31. Orders will arrive on or around November 15. After that time, there will be one additional ordering opportunity during spring registration. Girls Swim Team Wins Latin Invite!

The girls swim team broke two school records over the past two weekends while winning both 8 team Invitational's.
At the Latin Invitational on Saturday sophomore Zoe Rebollo Baum broke a 24 year old record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.21. At the Uni-High Invitational in Champaign the previous weekend the 400 medley relay record was broken by over three seconds with a 1:57.83 time. Members of that relay team include sophomores Zoe Rebollo Baum, Alexis Porter and freshman Amber Huo, Elizabeth Van Ha.
The Maroons host their final home meet of the season today at 4:30 at the UC Ratner Center pool with Whitney Young. The seniors will be honored for their contribution to the program for the past 4 years.
Cross Country Regional Results

U-High girls decisively won the regional championship, scoring 19 points to second place Noble/Muchin’s 72 points. The girls took 4 of the top 5 places, led by sophomore Elsa Erling with a first place finish at 19:39.67 for the 3-mile course, followed by Fen Truitt (2nd at 20:33.52), Lucy Kenig-Ziesler (4th at 20:41.74), and Liza Libes (5th at 20:45.89). Isabella Khan, Genevieve Nemeth, and Grace Cain rounded out the varsity team with excellent times and places as well.
On the boys side, the team placed a very close 2nd with 31 points to 1st place Lindblom’s 28 points. The Maroons were led by junior Jacob Meyer, who won in a personal best time of 15:27.69, followed by Charlie Sowerby (3rd in 16:59.49) and Harrison Shapiro (5th in 17:33.78). Fine performances by Arthur Chang, Zach Emanuel, Taylor Horton, and Mo Sreebny all helped the team effort.
The Maroons now advance to the IHSA 2A Sectional Championships @ Fenton High School ( Bensenville ) this Saturday November 1 at 10:00 girls race and 11:00 boys race.
