Giving to Lab Schools' Programs
There are many ways you can support the Laboratory Schools:
Community of Givers
Giving back is an essential part of what we do at Lab, and the Community of Givers annual
fund is an important part of that tradition. The Community of Givers raises support that:
- provides unrestricted funds for current use across all grade levels,
- enables Lab to address deferred maintenance and maintain a superior physical plant,
- underwrites new curricular programs and other learning initiatives, and
- gives the Schools flexibility to seize unfolding opportunities as well as to meet its most pressing needs.
Scholarship Endowment
The University carefully invests your gift for scholarship endowment, and the endowment's
annual income is used to finance scholarships for Lab students. The larger our endowment
grows, the more aid we will be able to offer to deserving students.
The endowment at the Laboratory Schools is only a fraction the size of endowments at our peer
schools across the nation. Your gift to endowment not only will help us attract the very best
students, but also will keep Lab competitive with the country's top schools.
Alumni Challenge
A gift to the Alumni Challenge Scholarship Fund ensures that the richness of the Lab experience
is available to all students of ability, regardless of their families' means. In 2003, alumni
generosity enabled us to award over $650,000 in financial aid to some of our most deserving
students. With your help, this year's fund drive will be even more successful. Here are some
compelling reasons to give to the Alumni Challenge Fund:
- because U-High tuition now costs over $17,000 a year,
- because current endowment can only provide partial, need-based scholarships to 14 percent of our students, and
- because scholarships ensure a diverse and talented student body.
Your gift to the Alumni Challenge fund is available for current use at Lab and has a direct
impact on students' lives.
