Our Teachers

College vacations see a steady stream of Lab alumni returning to campus to visit their teachers, reminding all of us how important and long-lasting good teaching and mentoring can be. Lab graduates long remember the examples their teachers set for them, even from their earliest years. Many of our faculty members, twenty- to thirty-year veterans, demonstrate the measure of commitment teachers have to our community. Across all schools, nearly 80 percent hold master's degrees or higher. Our teachers are continuously involved in professional and personal development activities within or outside of Lab, including developing new ideas for the classroom, community volunteering, and even playing in local bands.

Teachers at Lab have a significant voice in planning and developing the curriculum. Our faculty members pride themselves on their involvement in the life of the school, holding themselves and their students to high standards. Stability and concern for the lasting verities of education distinguish our teachers at every level. Over the years faculty members have been honored with many awards and citations, including five Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching. In turn, faculty members have guided students to their own national awards in science, debate, athletics, publications, and other endeavors.
