Before School

General Information

Before School is available daily between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. for children in Nursery through Fourth Grade. Students participating in Before School will engage in arts and crafts activities, reading time, and some recreation for older students. Students will be escorted to their classroom by the staff at the conclusion of the program.  A healthy breakfast is now being served daily.

Registration

Registration can be made any of three ways: i) on a quarterly basis, ii) through the purchase of a ten-pass, or iii) on an occasional use basis. Quarterly registrations can be made during the Lab After School open registration period before each quarter. Ten-pass registrations can be made at anytime by emailing the Lab After School office. Occasional use registrations can be made using the occasional use request form.  Advanced notice is appreciated to ensure an accurate count for breakfast.

Locations

In Blaine, the program is conducted in two locations. Arts and crafts activities can be found in Judd 207B. Alternatively, more active, recreational activities can be found in Judd Gym. The two locations are adjacent to one another at the top of the stairs in Judd Hall on the second floor.  On occasion, outdoor play will also take place in Scammons.

At Woodlawn, Before School is conducted on the lower level of 5750 South Woodlawn.

Attendance Policy

The Before School program can be used as a drop-in program with no advanced notice. Occasional use participants are asked to notify the office before 4 p.m. the day prior to use, but may still attend if plans are not known at that time. Ten-pass participants are also asked to give advanced notice when possible. Please note that, unlike for after school programs, families of scheduled but absent children are not contacted to determine the absent child's whereabouts.
