Words From the N/K and Lower School PrincipalsBeverly Biggs, Lower School principal Carla Young, Nursery/Kindergarten principal Welcome back after what we hope was a restful break! It is wonderful to have the sounds of children at work and play in our hallways once again. The Laboratory Schools were far from quiet over break, as that time was used to make repairs and improvements throughout the buildings. The beginnings of an all-schools emergency communications system were installed. Look for speakers by the center staircases in Blaine Hall. This system will be used for tornado and fire drills as well as for emergencies. We expect it to be operational soon. Electrical work, radiator work, and repairs to classrooms and hallways also took place. The mittens, hats, and scarves collected as part of "Hands Around the World" were donated to the Oneida Cockerel Child Parent Center at 61st and Wabash. They were most grateful for your help. We wish you a very happy "second" new year (September always feels like our true new year). Enjoy the lengthening days and unusual weather! Beverly & Carla |
